A speculative article by Sky News was published recently, stating that there is a housing crisis that could see the return of slums as more people rent from unregulated private landlords.
They used two examples in the article, both from London.
The negative reporting does not reflect the reality that the vast majority of private landlords provide good quality housing to a growing customer base in a buoyant market.
Charters Reid Surveyors based in York has a former private sector housing inspector in its experienced team, and the quality of private sector housing in the York area does not reflect the extreme examples given in the news article as the majority of landlords wish to maintain a good relationship with their tenants, agents, and local authority, and as we know, bad news travels faster than good news
We only spread good news.
